Please join us for the second annual Colors for a Cure 5K! Help us raise money and awareness for histiocytic disorders by participating as a runner or sponsoring a participant.
Histiocytosis is a rare blood disease that can be deadly or can cause life-long disabilities. Patients are often treated with chemotherapy, radiation and bone marrow transplants. While this disease affects all races and ages, the majority of cases involve children under 10 years old. Because histiocytosis is so rare, it receives virtually no government funding for research. We will run through the beautiful Shadow Cliffs Regional Park to raise awareness and funds.
Name: Colors for a Cure 5K
Date: Sunday, November 10, 2013
Time: Check-in/Registration begins at 8:30 am. The race begins at 10:00 am.
Location: Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, 2500 Stanley Blvd., Pleasanton, CA 94566
Fee: $35 online pre-registration through November 8. $40 on-site registration.
Website: http://events.histio.org/colorsforacure
Why: Histiocytosis comes in all "colors". It is rare and often misdiagnosed. By raising funds and awareness, together we can find a cure.
Goal: To raise $5,000 to benefit scientific research and educational resources for patients, families, and the medical community through programs supported by the Histiocytosis Association, a 501(c)(3) organization. |
